What Does it Mean to be Free?

The Magnificent Artist offers more colour and freedom to his creatures in this book,  so what does this really mean?

The main characters, the caterpillar and bird desire this and in the end receive this wonderful gift, but this begs the question, what does this mean? Were they not free once they asked. Yes they were, but they still had a journey to go on.

So how can one be truly free?

The juvenile characters as they are maturing call out to the Artist, He promises this gift to them.

The characters needed to be patient as they grew into themselves. On the road to maturity they start believing lies about themselves binding themselves up so they couldn’t use their gifts or grow into their potential.

Isn’t this like life we all face on this journey we are all on.

As toddlers we have no hang ups, we are free to do anything that gives us pleasure. As we mature we grow into our personalities, our likes, our dislikes, and unfortunately our fears.

Sometimes our fears are healthy and some fears are unfounded. At times fears are based on what voices we hear as we grow. We can be encouraged, ridiculed, ignored, silenced or cheered on to name a few.

Childhood is where our gifts are starting to develop, like the creatures in the book, the caterpillar had a yearning to fly because ultimately that is what she was designed to do.

The bird had a yearning to sing for this is what he as a songbird was designed to do.

Each of us was made with a special design as we are all, fearfully and wonderfully made as it states in Psalms 139:14 (paraphrased) Psalms 139 is a beautiful chapter of the bible explaining how He has knit us together in our mothers womb. He knows when we sit and when we rise.

Jeremiah 29:11 states “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Freedom is believing The Creator God’s words about us and using wisdom to stay close to Him, nurturing our gifts to full maturity.

Luke 2:52 states that Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favour with God and man.

Therefore it is also our responsibility  to grow into our own God given gifts and use the wisely for the betterment of our brothers and sisters around us.

By being obedient to this one can achieve true freedom.

We will still have valleys and deserts to go through, Jesus states this in John 16:33 ” In this world you will have trouble” Then states “But take heart! I have overcome the world”(paraphrased)

I will end with this scripture 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.
